MYSQL里面WHERE条件后的那个括号是怎么用来着？？

比如 where a=1 and b=2 or c =3
记得好像有一种用法是给条件加括号
 where ( a=1 and b=2) or c =3
这种是在什么情况下用的？

a=1 和 b=2或者c=3都成立
 where ( a=1 and b=2) or c =3 
a=1 和 b=2成立 或者 c=3也成立
