ArrayList的问题

我为ArrayList　add的每个元素又是一个ArrayList , 为什么在最后取值的时候　取到的每个子ArrayList都是空的呢！？
这是么原因呢？！
能这么用么？！请大家顺便帮我看一下下面的问题！

ArrayList a = new ArrayList();
ArrayList b = new ArrayList();
a.add("123");
b.add(a);
ArrayList c = (ArrayList)b[0];
c[0].tostring();//123
怎么会错呢

楼上写的对
ArrayList c = (ArrayList)b[0]; 做个强制转换

不好意思！是我自己搞错了！  我把要加的子ArrayList设置成了Static了！  放分！
