Tomcat,JBoss,Resin,WebSphere,WebLogic,SunAppServer,OracleAS都是（java）应用服务器应用服务器应该是一个小范围的，想web服务器就是比较大的范围了，象apache就我个人而言，（java）应用服务器就是能够发布java 的web应用程序的容器就是（java）应用服务器而只要能发布web应用程序的容器总称为web服务器

    至于差别嘛，考虑的因素很多，
    比如从本身性质来说，象tomcat和jboss等都是源代码公开的从商业性来说，weblogic和jboss等目前都是作为商业软件的，也有免费版的从性能来说，当然越贵越好了，象weblogic，就比较贵，不是一般的贵，呵呵
