newWind.document.form1.zip.value="000000";right after 
var newWind=window.open("someURL.jsp","subWind")your new document may not be completely constructed yet. If you add an alert("") in between, IE will have time to construct the new documenttryvar newWind=window.open("someURL.jsp","subWind");
