mysql字符集问题

Question

1.那个版本开始我就不知道了，反正我用的4.1就已经支持了。 
2.用

3.可以在安装的时候设置（即在选择字符集的时候），也可以在安装后在my.ini里修改default charset=

我的my.ini里没有default charset这一项（我的版本为4.0.12),
不知道default charset这一项应该在my.ini中的什么位置？

我的是mysql 5,使用的安装版本，就会在安装目录出现my.ini 的字符集[client]port=3306[mysql]default-character-set=ujis
