have you uninstalled the old mysql? sry, im not familiar with w2k. pls check in the process console if any mysql process left. also the content of my.ini (if the name is correct), IMO, it is because of ur application is trying to connect to the old mysql which has the same port number as the current one. You could redefine the new mysql port number if you agree. after that, we would be sure whether the bug comes from there..
