Subject: Submitting a Job Fails With VNI-2015 Authentication Error Preferred Credentials
Type: PROBLEM
Status: PUBLISHED
Content Type: TEXT/PLAIN
Creation Date: 01-APR-1999
Last Revision Date: 24-SEP-2001
Symptom: Running Jobs From Enterprise manager Console Fails with errors
Symptom: VNI-2015: Authentication ErrorCause: The EM Preferred credentials are not set correctly for the target host.
The Preferred Credentials stores logon information for each service discovered
in the EM Console. The service type "NODE" represents the actual host or
server. A valid OS user must be specified for each NODE listed in the
Preferred Credentials section.
Fix: Set the preferred credentials for the OS Node. 1. Logon to the EM Console as the EM Administrator user that scheduled the job.2. Click on SYSTEM => PREFERRED CREDENTIALS3. There are two choices:A. Set the "default" PREFERRED CREDENTIALS for the service type called NODE.
This will set the logon credentials the same for all discovered
nodes.B. Set PREFERRED CREDENTIALS for each NODE. The Preferred Credentials must
be an OS user with adequate permissions to perform the job, create files,
etc.NOTE: If the NODE is a Windows NT or 2000 system, the user must have a
special privilege called LOGON AS A BATCH JOB. NOTE: If the NODE is a UNIX system, use a valid UNIX ID like Oracle or root.
Usually the ORACLE user will have enough permissions to perform any
job requested through the job system. 4. Test the job system again. Create a new job and run it again.
