php4.3 如果处理2003Excel文件

下面是从2003的excel另存为XML得到的:

$dom = domxml_open_file($file);
$Rows = $dom -> get_elements_by_tagname('Cell');为什么＄Rows得到的是array()呢．我测试过，$dom能正确创建．是不是php4.3中的XML库函数不能识别２００３的EXCEL呢。如果是这样，我该如何解决呢？
