sendmessage中关于EM_SETSEL消息的使用的问题？

sendmessage中关于EM_SETSEL消息的使用的问题？
wParam,Specifies the starting character position of the selection. 
lparam,Specifies the ending character position of the selection. 
但我在textbox中好象只有第一个参数起作用，第二个参数设了好象没用，从wparam指定的位置开始向后全部选定？
百思不得其解，为什么，高手快指教啊？

SendMessage EM_SETSET  ,0,-1 选中所有

lparam默认为byref，改为byval就可以了，如：
SendMessage Text1.hwnd, EM_SETSEL, 10, ByVal 17

好象不行吗？
 不管lparam指定的结束位置是多少？他都从wparam指定的位置向后至字符串结束全部选中
